“you couldn’t handle me,
even if I came with instructions.”
I met Shanice one morning when she served me my coffee at Flying Star. It felt too early for me to be up and about on a Saturday but I had scheduled to meet a potential client to go over their wedding plans that day. While Shanice was getting my coffee ready, I began to admire her style; her small frame, bleached hair and amazing freckles were something I hadn’t seen locally before, and I knew I had to take a chance and ask if I could photograph her. I might have come off as a little strange (I’m still getting used to asking strangers to model for me!) but I was happy that a few days after I gave her my card, she sent me an e-mail expressing her interest in working with me.
I was thrilled. And I knew I wanted to do something a little different than what I had done in the past. Even though we were planning to shoot in early spring while the trees were blossoming with gorgeous pink flowers, I wanted this shoot to have a bit of a darker feel. That’s why we went for a Wednesday Addams-themed shoot and Shanice’s style fit perfectly.

when they make a darker color”
